About Depict VR
Depict VR helps build interpersonal bonds to promote stronger relationships, alleviate distress and promote healthier minds.

Transforming Therapy with Depict VR
Depict VR is created by Borderpoint Films in collaboration with London South Bank University.
Depict VR combines elements of narrative and family therapy. It builds on the Theory of Expressed Emotion and applies it in a novel interactive virtual reality setting. The shared virtual space is specifically designed to help users disclose personal experiences and create constructive dialogue.
Depict VR promotes empathy and understanding between users to create stronger connections. The self-guided experience requires minimal input from therapists and serves as a valuable means to deliver cost-effective therapy.

Dr Preethi Premkumar
Preethi is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at London South Bank University. Her research focuses on family relationships. The Theory of Expressed Emotion guides how she studies family relationships. Preethi studies how people process criticism and praise and how sensitivity to criticism and praise relates to schizotypy. Schizotypy is a personality trait that suggest vulnerability for schizophrenia. For instance, greater sensitivity to criticism is related to a higher level of schizotypy. In contrast, lower sensitivity to praise is related to disorganization and thought disorder. Preethi studies the brain’s response to criticism and praise and found that people who have a high level schizotypy attend to criticism more than people who have a low level schizotypy. Her research also extends to designing virtual-reality interventions for social anxiety and schizotypal personality.
